Easy Wallet Tutorial February 1, 2008
Today my grandmom asked to take my girls overnight, which never happens. Eric's car is in the shop so he has mine, which also never happens. So, I had the day to myself, but I was stranded in the house. Eric said I should take a nap. Guess he didn't read my 'Welcome' post (or pay attention this past eleven years!). I always have to be doing something.
I made a couple of very easy wallets. The long wallet is great for bills, and the mini wallet fits credit cards perfectly. If you have a couple of sweet fabric scraps, less than an hour and need something crafty to do all the time like me, try this. It's simple and they're fun.
For the bill wallet, you'll need:
- 2 pieces of fabric (one outer and one for the lining): each 8.25" X 7.5"
- 1 piece of interfacing: 7.5" X 6.75"
- thread
- snap closure

Place right sides together with interfacing on top, and pin together. Sew around the edges with a 3/8" seam, and leave about a 2-3" opening in the middle of one of the sides. You can see this at the point of my scissors.
Also, trim the corners to reduce the bulk.
Turn rightside out and make sure to pull each corner our completely. I used tweezers to pull the corners out as square as I can get them.
Iron.

Decide which side will be the flap and which will be the inside. Top stitch the inside's top, where you see my pointer finger.
Fold the bottom up at desired height. I folded it up about 3 quarters.
Pin together.
Starting at the bottom left corner, where you see my thumb, stitch across to the bottom right corner, all the way up the flap and back down to the bottom left corner again.
Add a snap closure and, finito, you're done.
For the mini credit card pouch, I used the same prints but reversed them as the outer fabric and lining.
- Two pieces of fabric (one outer and one for the lining): each 7.25" X 5.25"
- One piece of interfacing: 6.5" X 4.5"
- Thread
- Snap Closure
Follow the same directions as above!

I WANT ONE!!! please : )
Perfect! So easy. I love it!!
First of all, I love reading your blog. Second, I love this tutorial. I made myself one of these wallets (the smaller card holder one) and I love it. I used a button instead of a snap, and it’s just the right size to carry my necessary cards and a little money. Keep up the awesome writing!
This is a great tutorial, and those wallets are great-looking!

What brand of fabric are you using? I absolutely love it! These are great little things to make when you have time on your hands. I love crafts
Awesome tutorial! I’m posting it (with a link-back, of course) on my blog today.

I want one of those. That is so cute,.
This is too cute! I’m obsessed with making wallets- I’ve got patchwork wallets, snap wallets, zip wallets, and about 1000 tutorials of other wallets I want to try
I’ll be posting pics of my wallets soon at <a href=”http://www.pepperberryandco.blogspot.com/”Pepperberry & Co. (http://www.pepperberryandco.blogspot.com/), and I might just have to try one of these before then!!
P.S. I’m one of those ‘can’t-just-have-a-nap-need-to-be-doing-something’ people, too
I love that most creative types are!!
Love this tutorial! I’ve been looking for something just like this, and I’m so glad I stumbled on your post! I just finished making the card-sized wallet, and it turned out great. Thanks!
Hello!
I really like your how to. I was wondering if I could translate it in French and add it to my list of how to as explained in my french post (http://www.petitcitron.com/index.php/form_howto.html)
Of course, your website would be quoted and there would be a link!
Thank you,
Perrine
Omg! This is so cool! I love making stuff and selling it on Etsy! Keep up the brilliant ideas!
